I'm going to be out of town for a few weeks so I'm preposting a rerun this week of one of my very favorite red altered art projects. I won't have much computer time but I promise to catch up with everyone as soon as possible! :) Nan

Three Muses Blue

When I saw the Three Muses were celebrating 2 years I had to make something blue just for that. I haven't done many challenges recently but Three Muses is one of my favorites and I appreciate all the inspiration they've given me! Thanks Bev, Ann and Marie!

Creative Spirit Monthly Challenge & Dezinaworld

Sweet Cindy is having a new monthly challenge called Creative Spirit . As she puts it "Whatever celebrates the creative spirit in each one of us! Please post something on your blog, whether it is artwork, photography, a recipe--whatever it is that exemplifies your creative spirit!"
For me the main thing that makes me feel the most creative would be finding old things and doing something artsy with them. (I think the latest term is upcycling) A close second would be color. I'm always inspired by color when I'm out and about. Shouting at Mr. S to pull over to take a picture NOW or pulling over myself and circling back to take a picture of that perfect color on a sign or house...whatever it may be. So that will be what I show you...mostly old stuff fluffled up a bit.
This time it is a plate I made for my old altered art group...now defunct...sigh...it was a rare flower in our rural community and I miss it horribly but thankfully I have all of you wonderful creative ladies in blogland to play with! Can't wait to see what you all put up for show!
I am also entering this in Dezinaworld's Spot Prize challenge for fairies because it is my favorite fairy piece i have done and I am having to combine a few challenges to be able to play. I have limited studio time until after the first week in September.

Mide Wide Open Contentment

My entry for Mind Wide Open. Lot's of fun this time. Love how Gail created the image we all used. These are my favorite color too. I need to learn how to take a good photo on a rainy day or at night. We have had record amounts of rain this summer. I often finish a piece at night with moments to spare.....Gail must have the patience of saint since this is the second time I have turned in something at 11:50 something! I just looked at all the entries and they are so beautiful.
Go look if you get a moment, you won't be sorry. So inspirirng!

Three Muses Cat House Artist

Three Muses Time Flies Up Up and Away :)

Well....It's official. I'm losing my mind.I could have sworn that the sneak peek on Three Muses was Time. EDIT ALERT :) The Muses have told me that Time was the theme for a day perhaps but it seems time was abundant on other challenges so they made a brilliant switch to Up,Up And Away and I want to do that one too! I do have a bad habit of waiting til the day a project is due to get creative even when the hosts are wonderful and give me a sneak peek or a psst! I wrote down Time/3Muses on a slip of paper, put it on my work table and there it sat til Tuesday night! That's what I get for not going back and peeking around some more during the week. Plus I also missed later posts by some really creative women. So....there you have it. If by some miracle you are still reading my ramblings you are now returned to the original post. PHEW!
Anyway.......I made this 8'x10"piece tonight for Time with a watch I got at the thrift store and did a photo transfer of some tiny little shoes I had. I used tinfoil for the mirror. I guess the wings on my clock will have to suffice for time flying up up and away! Can't wait to see what everyone did this week.

Parrots Like the Wildlife 3 Muses

Postcard Theme Gothic Arches

I never realized how much postal related ephemera and stamps I had until I started working on this challenge for Gothic Arches. I do tend to collect things like that and suddenly the collection takes on a life of it's own. That's why I've spent a good part of the year sorting and purging! I've been busy today playing in my cool art room after a blazing morning clearing off my back porch. I've just relaxed and played with paper, glue and stamps.....no big expectations....just having some fun !

TGIF Secrets...A Little Birdie Told Me

My entry for Thank God It's Friday...The challenge is "secrets" ......I am trying to type and get this up before our power goes...Lots of thunder here this summer! I did an ATC with an image I've had for a while. I can't remember where I got it but I love her expression!

Three Muses Doors

Here is my piece for the door challenge at Three Muses. I've always been fascinated by doors, especially arched "hobbit" doors like this. One day I'll coax my talented but very busy woodworker husband to make one for my studio.
I did a photo transfer method that I learned this week from Lucy who learned it from Audrey. It was lots of fun and the most successful transfers I've ever been able to do. Thanks you both for sharing your technique! I learn a lot from Lucy...she may be my muse!
I cut out the vines from dictionary pages with my dusty Sizzix. The bee is from Basic Greys Wisteria stamp set..I love this set! Lots of gel medium and other fun stuff. I am loving this site... the muses are doing a wonderful job and bringing in all kinds of talent !

Dream Journal TGIF

Here is my piece for Thank God It's Friday.....I started this dream journal about a year ago and I'm was so glad to see this challenge and get it out and work on some more pages in it! I loved working on it and even used it when I had to redo my blog header. Now I have the perfect thing to work on this weekend! Thanks for looking and hope everyone has a fun creative weekend!

This is for the cool guy with the cool tattoo! :)

Two great guys delivered the third and final part of my kitchen today . It was a long delivery and they were so good to find a way down our road. We made quite a few trips up our tree lined lane in my van since their truck wouldn't fit under the tree canopy and now all the cabinets are safely here! Phew! Along the way we found we all like some great music and good books......so here's a piece of art with a touch of Twilight and Anne Rice thrown in just for them. Thanks so much guys!

Altered Book Come Into My Garden

The theme for Saturday's Workout is altered books. I've been playing in mine this week and was so pleased to see this was todays challenge. I put my first page up on Monday but here's the rest of the 4 page spread......Had so much fun doing this. Thanks for looking!

Neither Here Nor There

The most beautiful color green background was the inspiration from Art Creations Friday. I had to do it even though I am late! My MIL says I would wear a barrel if it were green and she's probably right!

My Little Garden Sprite

This is my entry for Gothic Arches this week. The theme was garden sprite. I was thinking about what I wanted to do with this when I saw my little furball Yoshi on the screen porch looking out at our bluebird house and she was squeaking. So she's my little muse. A fuzzy garden sprite who loves to watch the birds.....she never goes after them...just squeaks along with the babies. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Crazy Amigo She Wasn't Always Nice

This is my piece for Crazy Amigo 2" x 4" challenge today. I've never done anything in that size. What an excellent challenge!

A person I respect said "I'm not always a nice person but I always try to be a good person"... I've always remembered that! So can you tell I'm feeling grouchy today when you look at this? Oh well... anyway the background is a mixed media piece I took apart from an older challenge. Know how you just can't get it right sometimes? I always know when I like something or when it's done. So I disassembled another piece...which is fun by the way when you are feeling grouchy...and cut the background into 2" x4" squares and did my collage on top of that. Now I like it..LOL! Seriously I've only deconstructed 2 pieces of recent work...I know what you're saying L ! Rainy and cold and in the 50's here. It was 90 just last week...how bizarre! I suspect Mother Nature is not happy with us right now!
