Mide Wide Open Contentment

My entry for Mind Wide Open. Lot's of fun this time. Love how Gail created the image we all used. These are my favorite color too. I need to learn how to take a good photo on a rainy day or at night. We have had record amounts of rain this summer. I often finish a piece at night with moments to spare.....Gail must have the patience of saint since this is the second time I have turned in something at 11:50 something! I just looked at all the entries and they are so beautiful.
Go look if you get a moment, you won't be sorry. So inspirirng!

Ooh Laa Laa Miss La Rose !

This is a piece I did for the Mind Wide Open challenge this month......I am trying to use all leftover/thrift store items in my work for a while. I stole my husbands grahm cracker box for the chipboard bodice...(he doesn't even ask anymore..LOL! ) and found some neglected camisoles at our local thrift for the skirt and the flower is one I made from scraps in a session with Gayle and Lucy one night.....paper flying everywhere......anyway lots of fun!

The title was inspired by my little friend Emma, Lucy's daughter......we were trying on hats and this was our posing phrase....now she may correct me and tell me I have mispronounced Miss La Rose's name and if that happens you can be sure I will edit :) ........

Go visit the The Next Step if you get a chance....it's Lucy and Gayle's great new technique blog they started with Bethany..... who has a beautiful technique up this month by the way.

Moments Of Silence

My entry for Mind Wide Open.....I really enjoy doing the monthly challenge on MWO. The image this month was very pastel and light so it was a challenge not to overpower it with the other elements. I played with some techniques after reading Kelly Ray Roberts book and taking some journaling classes from Pam Carriker, Nancy Lefko and Dina Wakley. I used a piece of chipboard, some gel medium to collage the torn glimmer misted book pages on the background. I sprayed a fixative on that then gessoed over everything but the heart and used some Palette gold ink and Jo Sonjas gold paint over a stencil. The hot glue spirals are dusted with Pearl Ex. This doesn't feel quite finished to me. I'd like to continue to work on this and maybe post another photo when I get it done to my liking. I started very late on the challenge and couldn't decide whether to enter or not. Then I realized it's all a learning experience and I want to be a part of it. I had a busy week and didn't make enough time to spend on creating.....like I said in an earlier post "it's all about balance" :)
I saw the best quote this week, it said "the most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do"....so true.....I have said more than I wanted to in some conversations this week and think I need to learn to edit a bit. I am sensitive myself by nature and you would think I would be more cautious when speaking but sometimes I am not. The girl seems to be sitting in a quiet moment of reflection. So this is what I was thinking about when I put started putting this piece together... Moments of silence......

Mind Wide Open March Gypsy Belle

This is my entry for the Mind Wide Open challenge this month. We all work with the same digital image and it is amazing to see what all the artists do with it. Take a look, it's worth it to see all the different interpretations. Anyway here's mine. It is about my grandmother Gypsy Belle and how much I liked her name. I used some of the techniques I've been learning in my Art Journal 102 class like gel transfers and layering. I also used some of my rolled paper beads that I showed in an earlier post. TFL!
